Business Divisions Scrollytelling Series
An interactive series retelling six businesses — refining, aromatics, olefins, polymer, base oil and lubricants — as scroll-driven animated stories. 16 pages in Korean and English, built and shipped in two days.
Challenge
Introducing the company's businesses was always vague. Information sat scattered across the website, and the decks each division had were thin. Everything converges at the Yeosu complex, yet that connection was hard to show. Could the whole business be seen at once — grounded in accurate data, and ideally linked into a story? We needed material people would actually read.
Approach
1
Designed one signature scene per business — fractions splitting in the distillation column, a branch attaching to the benzene ring, a chain snapping to leave a double bond — each tied to the scroll2
Cross-checked the official site, the 2025 sustainability report, gspolymer and kixxoil down to the product-level pages. Where figures conflicted (aromatics: 2.8M vs 3M tons), the sources were weighed and reconciled into one3
Put an etymology corner in every chapter — aromatics (fragrance), olefins (the oil-making gas), polymer (many parts) — giving unfamiliar names a story4
Used the 40 photographs from the Media Hub black-and-white exhibition as they were, with an index and a value-chain journey page on top, threading the chapters through a six-color system5
Built an English edition so the divisions could use it as a digital leaflet6
Ran the whole process in Claude Code — research, build, browser verification, Vercel deploymentOutcome
