Anger King / Ask a Pro

Led a video unit in an in-house new business incubation team. Started with solutions journalism-based "Anger King," then pivoted to "Ask a Pro" using DC Inside memes.

Challenge

News video rarely went beyond reading a text article aloud. The gap between what YouTube users actually wanted and what media was delivering was enormous. The challenge: build a format that both preserved journalistic value and was actually consumed on the platform.

Approach

1
Analyzed the YouTube content market; directly met with Google/YouTube teams for consulting
2
Planned and produced the "Anger King" series format; led a team of 2 reporters and 6 video interns
3
Pivoted after 6 months: partnered with DC Inside to launch community meme-based "Ask a Pro" series
4
This experience directly fed into producing FactPL Video Season 1

Outcome

6,000 YouTube subscribers acquired in 6 months
Converted internet community memes into an entertainment news format; internalized platform grammar
Connected to FactPL Video Season 1 production
