Meeting Room Glossary — An Internal Short-Form Series on Work Jargon

An internal short-form series that explains work terms people hear every day but hesitate to ask about, like OSP, crack spreads and inventory lag, in a 75-second vertical video and a one-page summary card. Planning, motion, narration and rendering were all done in code, with no filming.

Challenge

Leadership once shared an outside infographic explaining the official selling price (OSP) of Middle East crude. The reaction was, "Surprisingly, a lot of people inside the company don't really know this." The word comes up every time earnings are discussed, yet it feels awkward to ask in a meeting. Words that slip by unasked pile up, and people end up taking in less of the earnings and strategy messages. What caught my eye was that the thing that spread internally wasn't a video. It was a single image.

Approach

1
Designed the card as the main product and the video as the thing that gets it shared. One term = one video + one card + one glossary entry
2
Kept it separate from the existing internal video series (4–5 minute strategy messages) as a lightweight series of its own. One episode every two weeks, with sign-off ending at one email check by the owning department and the team lead
3
Fixed the 75-second structure for every episode. Hook, context, a one-sentence definition, one real number, then "what this means for our work." Swap in the topic and the script writes itself
4
Picked 12 terms for season one. Only words that come up constantly, are hard to ask about, and tie directly to understanding earnings
5
Produced with HTML-based motion graphics (HyperFrames) and AI narration, no talent or shoot. Documented everything down to syllable pace and caption rules in a production guide so anyone can make the next episode
6
Ruled out, at the script stage, any P&L impact figures, crude sourcing terms, political interpretation or mention of competitors

Outcome

✓
Finished pilot episode 1 on OSP (explaining the structure through a Saudi OSP that moved $11 a barrel in a single month) and episode 8 on MFC
✓
Built a template and production guide so a new episode can start from a copy, with a target of three days per episode
✓
Set card reshares, completion rate and term suggestions as the metrics. Suggestions double as the topic pool for season two
